Patients

Hedgehog Rescue has many long-term patients that cannot be returned to the wild
for one reason or the other. Please be assured that our long-term patients
still live very full, pain free lives in captivity. If this can be achieved, we believe
it is better than having the animal put down.

Holly

Hedgehog photo

This is Holly, she was brought to Hedgehog Rescue in June of 2007.
When Holly first came in she was in a terrible state, with grass twisted around
a broken, badly infected leg. The leg unfortunately could not be saved
and was amputated at the local veterinary surgery.
She is also thought to have lost sight I one eye.
These factors mean that she cannot be returned back to the wild.
She now lives happily at the Hedgehog Rescue centre.

Sadly Holy has past away recently (June 2008).
She will be missed by us all at the unit.

Ellie

Hedgehog photo

This is Ellie, she was brought to Hedgehog Rescue in September of 2007.
When Ellie was brought in she had very little movement in her back legs and her
eyesight was damaged. She has now regained movement in her legs but
her eyesight is still poor. Because of this and some persisting problems
with her legs, Ellie will not be returned back to the wild,
but will live happily at the Hedgehog Rescue centre.
